I recieved a flyer yesterday about Brian for Mayor ... Fred Gray seems to have droped out leaving Brain to step up in his place ... they are having dinners tonight August 5th and this saterday August 7th 2004 will be Pj night up at Grassys ... lets try to support the people that are steping up to make a mardi gras this year ... Just finished reading all the "blurbs" since 2002
and found some names from when I lived in the Channel. Just recently returned to attend my uncles funeral (deb murphy). Stayed at my Aunt Theresa's(Murphy)home and talked about old times. toured around BC and it really bought back some good memories. A lot of changes. Still a close knit community. Now living in Tampa and would welcome any emails.

The talk around town was the NYC Broad Channel Land Auction. With the old Harvey's lot going for $990,000.00!!! Should be interesting to see what the island will look like in a few years with all the new homes being built.

I was born in Far Rockaway, but i was brought home to Broad Channel. I lived there my whole life until we moved to texas in 1987. I went to school at St. Virgilius. I have not been able to make it back to visit, but i have heard that it has canged a lot since i left. If anyone has any pictures of the place and how it is now, i would love to hear from you. I am really homesick.

Thanks for the website link to the pictures Bob. That's just crazy that the water was that bad. But I sort of remember plenty of floods where we lived. I am so anxiuos to win the lotto so I can move back home and actually afford a home there. Gees, 990,000 bucks. That's just insane, but to be honest, I would pay it if I had it. There ain't no price tag on home!!

Congrats to 15th Road for pulling together a GREAT block party this weekend! Unfortunately the bounce house collapsed, but thanks to MaryJane & Charlotte there were lots of arts & crafts to keep the kids busy. The block really stuck to the Hawaiin theme and decorated beautifully - the Tiki Bars were excellent! D.J. Tom Healy played a great mix of music and kept everyone dancing through the night. Another great party in BC!
