Hi, I'm just browsing through the web site, which I do about once or twice a month. Would love to hear from svs grads, class of '46. I lived in BC from around 1938 to 1953. I went to John Adams HS,and worked at Rockaway Beach Hospital as a nurse's aide, while in school. I moved to Massapequa in 1954, and have been here since.
My dad was Charlie Waldheim, who was a golfer, a Nut Club member, and fairly well known, I think. We lived at 46 W. 12th Road with my grandparents Clara and Charles,Sr. My uncle Roy lived across the street at #35, with his wife Dot, and their children Gary, Karen, Robert, and Gail.
My uncle Robbie lived at 25 13th Road, with his wife Gertie, and Roberta and Charlie, their children. Would love to hear from old friends.
I lived on 14th Rd. from '48-'52.
Spent parts of many summers until early '60s.
Great memories!
Came back to 14th Rd. '72-'76 then back out to the Island.

Lived in BC on the Blvd (1232) from '41 to '56. Graduated from SVS in '47, and still have great memories of all the experiences of living in the Channel. There is a reunion each year in Key Largo
Florida, around St. Pat's day(March 17th).
Keep checking this website for details.
I also lived at 1232 Crossbay Blvd..I think we lived there already when I was born in June '62..we then moved into my grandfathers house on West 13th in 1979. My husband Michael and I went to the Keys for St Pat's this past year..had a great time !!

Karen, We were at Key largo this year too. Had a great time--even talked to your dad(?) for quite some time. Had a lot of laugh's about the hot water in the toilet. You may have been too young to remember that, so ask him about it.

We had another great block party on 15th Road last weekend (hey, I live on 15th ). Many claim 15th to be the original "block-party block". This year's event was made even more memorable with the high moon-tide pouring down the street and past the bare feet of party-goers without even raising an eyebrow. Hopping across a puddle or two to grab a beer from the cooler then hopping back over to continue your conversation with your neighbor?? ... Only in Broad Channel.
The weather has been treating us well over the past week. High temps in the mid-80's, lows in the 60's and the relief of that low low humidity. Breathing in that clean, crisp, summer air on the water makes living here through the tough winters all worth while.
I was sitting out on the deck last night just looking out over the moonlit water towards the bright, clear Manhattan skyline. A cool, clean breeze was blowing over the flat calm water and the stars were as clear as can be... Boats coming back in from the Wednesday night fishing club with their catch.
Nothing else compares to what we have here. Those who live close enough to the water and had the chance to experience what I did last night probably couldn't put into words the feeling it gives you.
I love living here. I'll never get sick of it. Just thought I'd share that.
